JUST LOVE STRONG — J L S
My name is Lionel Smalls Jr., and Just Love Strong (JLS) is a piece of my life, my family, and everything I’ve been through.
I grew up in Harlem, New York, in a rough environment where I experienced struggle, negativity, and a lot of hate. Life wasn’t always easy, but those experiences shaped me into the person I am today. Through it all, I developed a deep love for fashion, creativity, and self-expression.
Becoming a father changed my life. I have four daughters, and having them brought a different kind of love and purpose into my world. One of my daughters is autistic, and she has taught me even more about unconditional love, strength, patience, and seeing beauty in things that others may overlook.
The name J L S comes directly from my own name, Lionel Smalls Jr. I took those three letters and turned them into something bigger: Just Love Strong.
I wanted the brand to have a symbol that represented the most powerful thing in my life; love. That's why I created the JLS heart using my daughter’s fingerprint, placing it inside a heart. That fingerprint represents something nobody else has: her unique identity, her love, and the bond we share.
Every piece of J L S carries a message:
Love is stronger than hate.
Family is stronger than struggle.
Your past doesn't define your future.
And no matter what you've been through—JUST LOVE STRONG.
JLS is for anyone who has faced adversity, experienced hate, overcome obstacles, or simply believes that there should be more love in this world.
This isn't just clothing.
This is my story.
